Auntie's Response - Beach Trip 2026

Well, sugar, let me tell you about my niece's little beach trip blog post, bless her heart.

She collected SIX national park stamps like she's some kind of government-sponsored Pokémon trainer. Six! And she still found time to get philosophical about it all.

She stood at the Wright Brothers Memorial - a perfectly lovely monument on a perfectly lovely hill - and proceeded to wonder if Orville and Wilbur were maybe a little sad that they succeeded. BLESS HER HEART. Most folks look at that monument and think "wow, humans can fly!" My niece looks at it and thinks "but did the fun part die with the dream?" She's not wrong, but LORD CHILD, let the man enjoy his airplane.

Then - and this is my favorite part - she drove all the way to Cape Hatteras TWICE in her life, and BOTH TIMES something was either moving or under construction. Eight months pregnant AND sunburned the first time. Well I never. She got her little stamp and left, which honestly shows tremendous personal growth.

She visited Maggie Walker's home and basically said Maggie Walker looked at racism and said "f-it, I'll build my own bank." My niece admires this deeply, and frankly so do I.

Fort Monroe apparently has "a bit of everything" but she didn't have time, so she's going back. She collects return trips like she collects stamps, apparently.

I love her to pieces.
