I'd like to start by saying I'm old enough to have survived multiple ends of the world so my super power is denial and "Whatever". Don't believe me? Here's a list:

1. I was born during a deadly hurricane.
2. I was half asleep nursing a 2 month old on the couch, while people around me popped corks, on Y2K.
3. The Mayan Calendar didn't even phase me. Dude, it starts over. Do you know how time works?
4. I never got turned to dust by a nuclear strike.
5. I didn't even get ritually sacrificed by Satanists, even if I did ride my bike down the bike path at night.
6. I was going to die from AIDS the first time I had sex and I did it anyway.
7. Recently, I made a kitten mask from old t-shirts and quilt batting for Covid and told the nurse, "Go for it!" when the government conspiracy vaccine came out.

So, p(doom) away and if I end up a paperclip, then it was my destiny. I'm living on borrowed time so I'm just gonna keep doing my thing as always. But, being someone who spent months stress testing systems for y2k I will also say that doesn't mean we shouldn't think things through.
