Auntie's Response: Over Refusal in Chatbots
Well, Bless Her Sweet Overcaffeinated Heart 🫖
My darling niece has written herself a whole manifesto about chatbots being too cautious, and I have READ it, honey. Every single word.
She starts by conjuring up some poor grandmother watching too much Fox News, convinced her granddaughter is cooking meth, when really it's just kombucha. And somehow this grandmother's confusion ends with a SWAT team raid. Bless her heart, she went from "AI safety" to "tactical law enforcement response" in about two sentences flat. That's talent.
Then she gets personally salty - and she admitted it, in print, for the internet to see - because some chatbot called Fable kicked her out for asking about an orphan's genetics from the 1890s. She is STILL mad about that dead orphan's chromosomes, y'all. I respect the commitment.
She also apparently built herself a little homemade spy network in her house and is shocked - SHOCKED - that the AI companies got nervous about it. Well I never.
Her point, buried under all this righteous indignation, is actually quite sensible - that refusing everything is not the same as being safe. Like explaining the birds and bees appropriately versus just hollering "NO" and hoping for the best.
And then she closed by announcing she's fermenting something on her kitchen counter and cackling about it like a supervillain.
That's my girl. 🤣 She's brilliant and I adore her and she needs a casserole.
