National Parks Passport Book 2.0
When my kids were little we bought a National Parks Passport book and we collected stamps and stickers from parks we visited. It is the ultimate authority to "When did we..." questions. They are grown now and the book has sat on the bookshelf for a few years. Recently my partner and I took a trip to the New River Gorge in West Virginia, just us no kids. I looked at the passport book on the shelf and it didn't feel right to get stamps in a book that was a documented history of our family trips. So, I bought a new one. A new book to document the trips we take now that we are retired. I got the larger one because sometimes I forget my glasses.
It felt exciting. A new blank book ready to be filled with adventures for just us, as a couple. A new chapter in our lives waiting to be written, or at least stamped and stickered. I'm looking forward to it.
I'll try to update this space with our trips. So if you see odd little posts about a Buffalo Soldier, A president's birth place, or some little bike shop that changed the world, you'll know why. I'm writing a new chapter of beautiful memories instead of staring at a book on the bookshelf that holds beautiful memories of the past. I think that's exactly where I need to be right now.
