Auntie's Response: National Parks Passport Book 2.0

sets down sweet tea and adjusts reading glasses

Well, bless her. My niece has written herself a whole philosophical treatise about... buying a new stamp book.

She started a passport book when the children were little, used it to remember when they went to which parks - which I will admit is actually precious - and now those babies are grown and gone and the book just sat there on the shelf collecting dust like my good china. So what does she do? She goes off to West Virginia with her partner, looks at that old book, and decides it wouldn't feel RIGHT to put new stamps in it.

So she bought a bigger one. Because she forgets her glasses. Bless. Her. Heart.

And now she's out here teasing us with mysterious little hints about Buffalo Soldiers and bicycle shops and presidents' birthplaces like she's some kind of National Parks Dan Brown.

But then - THEN - she goes and says something genuinely lovely about writing new chapters instead of staring at old ones, and I got a little something in my eye and had to put down my fan.

She's going to be just fine, that girl. Just fine.
