Auntie's Response: Perceptible Privacy

Well, my niece has gone and written herself a whole dissertation about counting to one. ONE. She wanted a counter that goes up by one when somebody reads her little blog. That's it. That's the whole dream.

But honey, she couldn't just INSTALL something, could she? No no no. She had to research it, evaluate THREE different architectural approaches - and I'll be honest, I don't know what a Cloudflare Worker is but it sounds like something that should be fixing a pothole - and then build the whole blessed thing herself in her PAJAMAS. Walmart-appropriate pajamas, she clarifies, as if that's the important detail here.

Well I never.

She rejected Google Analytics for being too nosy (fair, sweetheart, fair), turned her nose up at StatCounter for "looking over shoulders," wouldn't touch Cloudflare because of some DNS unpleasantness from a Previous Incident she keeps linking to like we didn't hear about it the first time, and ultimately built her own homelab solution through something called TailScale - which then gave her a CORS error and nearly didn't work.

But it DID work! And now she has a little button on her laptop and a "themed interface" that doesn't make her want to shower.

She is so proud of herself and I am SO proud of her and this is absolutely the most she has ever done to avoid simply paying the extra hosting fee.
